What is ERASE ?
We are a group of local residents, who want to preserve the beautiful East Riding's rural character and quality of life through protecting our countryside from industrial scale solar developments.
Our Aims
To stop the large scale solar factories being planned in the East Riding. they may call the "Farms" but ultimately they are industrial sites, destroying the countryside and the wildlife that lives there, bringing hundreds of thousands of panels up to 5.5 metres as large as a double decker bus in comparison, covering thousands of acres of countryside, We are looking at 27 Sq miles which is the equivalent to the size of Hull
How can you help ?
We are looking at building up a taskforce of volunteers like ourselves, for fundraising, contacting your local councillor and MP and tell them enough is enough, contact local media. organize a meeting in your area, help deliver leaflets, or simply tell your family, friends and neighbours.
We always welcome donations no matter how little to help us fight these plans through using flyers, posters, banners, keeping pressure on those that can have an impact on the decisions
Please sign the petition below to halt the use of solar on Farmland and open countryside, and promote solar on roofs

The most recent developments are
Peartree hill, Myen Leah, Kingfisher and Boom,
As you can see from the image below the size of these developments, they are huge swathes of our countryside that we will lose to industry, the decision will be made at Goverment level, but we can let our MPs be aware of our fears and they can make a difference and help stop these monster industrial sites
Please email your local MP

Please watch the recent Panorama programme about rewiring the UK and the effects this will have on the countryside

And our recent inclusion in the Yorkshire post
We are not opposed to solar but we feel there are other options, be this wind tidal or nuclear when managed correctly, we are also pushing for all homes to be fitted with panels.
Please don't be fooled by the imagery and greenwashing of the developers, these plants are industrial sites, that will change our countryside forever, decimating wildlife and flower, fauna.
The Solar plants will need flat bare earth so will be stripped back destroying habitat for badgers, rabbits, foxes, leaving a bare barren wasteland, that will take many years to come back to what it is now,
the plants will need CCTV, new roads, Security fencing, lighting all which will have a detrimental effect to its neighbours furry or not.
Cons of Living Near a Solar Farm
Other than the health risks associated with living near a solar farm, there are other negative effects which include:
- Noise and light pollution: The solar panels can be disruptive, particularly at night. The panels emit a humming noise, which some people find annoying, and the bright lights can keep people up at night.
- Negative impact on local wildlife and ecosystems: They can disrupt the natural habitat and the panels can kill insects and other small creatures as a result of the solar radiation.
- Solar farms may not be aesthetically pleasing: They can cause quite large and unsightly acres of land. If you have aesthetic concerns about the visual impact, it may not be ideal for you.
- Property value: Since some people believe that solar farms are not aesthetically pleasing, they can decrease the property prices around it.
